As an author, historian, and speaker, Leslie gathers and documents stories from “old-timers” and others who have had long affiliations with the sport.  In addition to extensive interviews, she conducts careful research, combing through past Racing Records, Reviews, Coursing News, Stud-books, newspaper and magazine articles, and more.  Eventually, she sits down and pulls it all together to craft a written article or speech, mixing in memorabilia and photos for emphasis and visual spice.

Her articles appear regularly in The Greyhound Review, the monthly magazine of the National Greyhound Association (NGA).  Her profiles, interviews, and other writings have been published in Glimmer Train Stories, Tin House Magazine, World Literature Today, and elsewhere.

She holds two master’s degrees in literature and writing, and has taught composition at Arizona State University, Chandler-Gilbert College and Central Arizona College.  Her community service work includes volunteer grant writing and coordinating Central Arizona College’s Visiting Writers Series.

She is available to lead writing workshops and to speak on the history of the “Sport of Queens.”
